What’s in my makeup bag –

I didn’t realize how much makeup I had until I took the time to go through it. No joke, I had makeup from my college days ( 2011-2013 ). Apparently there’s stickers on the back of makeup products that let you know how long the product lasts after being open. So now my plan is to go through all my makeup to see what is actually expired!

I typically don’t wear a lot of makeup in my daily life. Since I don’t have to look put together at my job. If you’re curious, I work as a special needs caregiver for my Brother! Back to makeup – Lately I have been doing more research on cleaner beauty. It’s something that has become important to me since half the time we don’t even know the ingredients in our products. Although I will say I do believe in balance! I enjoy using natural clean products the majority of the time. I will still use regular makeup products but they tend to be my long time favourites.

Since I’ve partnered with Nourish Boutique Spa I have learned about & got to test out some amazing all natural clean beauty / skincare brands. I was personally really excited to try out Elate Cosmetics. These makeup products are 100% Vegan & Gluten free + cruelty free. Elate uses 75% organic ingredients. Plus they always choose fair trade over organic if they aren’t able to do both. Elate Cosmetics values honesty by using ingredients lists that list all the ingredients, without hiding any additives or hard to pronounce ingredients.

If you are into saving the environment. Elate Cosmetics packing is 75% waste free. I believe they have goals to push the boundaries on waste free packaging even further in the coming future. How cool!

I’ll be honest. I didn’t have high hopes for natural makeup. A lot of the times the formulas involving chemicals & hard to pronounce ingredients work flawlessly compare to some natural makeup brands. Can natural makeup brands even compare? Now I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised when I started using Elate Cosmetics. The Refresh Tint Foundation is a lightweight coverage which smoothes out your skin tone to create a natural flawless look. It won’t completely cover blemishes like a full coverage foundation would but personally for my skin type I like a lightweight coverage. I should also mention Elate does have a full coverage foundation as well called Uplift.

Creme Revealer Concealer – I was genuinely curious about if the concealer would even conceal well. Again I was pleasantly surprised! I love the way it applys on my skin. I noticed the product didn’t irritate my blemishes to look worse by the end of the day. The concealer specifically is not only full coverage but it treats your skin with anti-inflammatory ingredients! When I apply concealer to my under eye area I find I have trouble with it creasing in my laugh lines by the end of the day. Not with the Creme Revealer! It lasted for the whole day without any creasing!. Thank goodness!

I really enjoy the colours of the Create Pressed Eyeshadow but the pigmentation & the blend ability of them as welll! The Dew Illuminator is a gorgeous natural looking highlighter. As far as the Essential Mascara & Liquid Eye Liner goes, I am happy with how they go on / last throughout the day. The only downside to them is they are not waterproof. On days when you for sure need waterproof makeup, unfortunately Elate Cosmetics isn’t waterproof.

Since I can’t completely replace my waterproof favourites with natural clean makeup, here are two of my favs! If you want stunning lashes tryout the Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara. I’ve tried a bunch of higher priced mascaras from Sephora & I haven’t found anything that compares to this stuff! I love that it’s super affordable & available at pretty well any drug store.

Stila Stay All Day waterproof liquid eye liner is just too good! It goes on super black & stays that way all day. The applicator makes it super easy to apply which is a bonus, especially when you’re trying to get the perfect winged look! You can purchase this liner at Sephora.

The Elate Cosmetics products I have pretty much covers my daily makeup look but I’d be lying if I said that’s all I use. Especially if I’m doing more of a glam look for a wedding or fun night out! Here are some more of my favourite makeup products below.

I love a good cream highlighter. Specifically the Watt’s Up highlighter by Benefit cosmetics. It’s easy to apply & gives you a natural glow that is easily blendable. I apply it on the top of my cheek bones, eyelid area, tip of the nose, above my upper lip for a nice plump look, & a little on my chin. Basically anywhere the light naturally hits your face!

Another product I enjoy using to give my face a natural bronzed glow is the D-Bronzi Drops by Drunk Elephant. You can apply directly on a clean face or with your moisturizer for a more natural look.

Too Faced Bronzer is a really nice matte finish bronzer! Although I will say I do want to purchase an Elate cosmetics bronzer because it also looks like a gorgeous matte bronze shade.

Good makeup brushes are something I think are a must. I purchased 4 brushes from It Cosmetics. Ones I would actually use on the daily so I didn’t just waste my money on brushes! I would recommend getting the Heavenly Luxe Airbrush Powder and Bronzer Brush and The Heavenly Luxe Wand Ball Powder Brush. I also purchased a double ended eyeshadow brush, and a contouring / blush brush also by It Cosmetics. ( I just couldn’t find those exact ones on the Sephora website. )

Lastly I do have a blush which I don’t use often but when I do use blush the Nars in the colour Orgasm is my go too. How classic! I specially remember being in college, going to Sephora, & just buying it for the colour name. But regardless is truly is a gorgeous shade!

I hope you enjoyed this blog post! I encourage you to visit Nourish Boutique Spa if you’re interested in purchasing Elate Cosmetics, or any of their other clean brands for that matter. Supporting local businesses is so important!
